By John Ameh, Abuja

Aviation minister, Mrs Stella Odua
The House of Representatives on Wednesday criticised the operations of foreign airlines in Nigeria, particularly their high fares and alleged maltreatment of Nigerian passengers. A motion sponsored by Mr. Emmanuel Ekon and 31 others also frowned on the practice of spraying insecticides on Nigerian passengers before take-off.

Nigeria & the valley of the shadow of death
By Odimegwu Onwumere

There are a lot of works to do. Some people have found themselves in avoidable circumstances. They no longer care for the welfare of their culture and humanity. They no longer believe that culture and humanity relate to community, but individual.

The tribal support of gargantuan crimes
Kofi Akosah-Sarpong

The mind-set of fifteen traditional chiefs and queen-mothers, from the Tongu area in Ghana's Volta Region, descending on the National Police Headquarters in Accra, to sympathize with their tribes-man, Alfred Woyome, who was being held over financial crimes of about US$40 million, is disturbing and lacks depth; impinging on Ghana's ethnic cohesion and values, and threatening Ghana's justice system.

Nigeria: Unitary, not united
By Pini Jasaon

THE call for National Conference has received several reactions, including opposition, from Nigerians. Those opposed to a National Conference fall into three main categories: Those who subscribe to the doctrine of "settled issues", those who say it would be used to dismantle the Nigerian state and those who believe that it is aimed at further weakening the stranglehold of the North on the nation.

Gay rights in Cameroon
By: Hywel Sedgwick-Jell

Gay rights - or lack thereof - in sub-Saharan Africa (and indeed, parts of Asia and the Middle East) are becoming an increasing cause for concern among human rights groups, campaigners and forward thinking governments around the world. Many states punish those perceived as homosexual with hefty fines, lengthy prison sentences, torture, and sometimes even death.

Escaping Africa, a new dawn for French policy?
Richard Dowden
Africa - except as an immigration issue - is unlikely to feature prominently in the forthcoming French Presidential election. But the continent remains a vital part of French politics. From independence Africa was the buttress for France's claim to be a global leader. French Africa policy was conducted by the presidency. Like a parallel government, teams directly responsible to the president ran foreign, defence, finance and aid ministries for Francophone Africa, separate from the normal government ministries.

HEALTH & MARRIAGE

Does marriage cause women to gain weight?
By Perpetual Umeaku

It is common knowledge that weight, either gain or loss is a widely discussed issue in marriage especially as it affects women. Researchers have shown that changes in weight affect both women and men in different ways. They said that women gain more weight after they are married while men add weight after they are divorced, giving diverse and intriguing reasons. Basically, this subject is largely centred on ladies because more often than not, it is the man who expresses his choice of who he wants to date or who he wishes to marry, whether slim or fat.

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
